Wisewood™ timber — the most socially and environmentally responsible wood source commercially available

Both forests above have recently been logged. On the left is a forest managed using non-clearcut methods utilised by Innofor Finland Ltd. On the right is a clearcut stand, which has lost its recreational and natural values for decades or more. Non-clearcut methods are commercially viable but more demanding than conventional forestry. Young trees starting off in the shade of larger ones grow straight and branchless lower trunks, providing the best knot-free timber. Only some mature trees are cut at a time, the forest is never cleared.
As well as providing finest saw timber quality, non-clearcut forestry offers overwhelming social and environmental advantages for local communities, including retaining landscape features important for recreation and tourism, for game management, and for wildlife.

Wisewood™ timber comes from forests managed or inspected by Innofor Finland Ltd. Experts praise Innofor’s innovative forestry approach:
• The Wisewood™ manufacturing chain encourages the use of wood for production of long-lasting quality products.
• Innofor’s non-clearcut forestry keeps intact forest landscapes and preserves their recreational values.
• Forest habitats important for wildlife are conserved better when their surroundings are not clearcut.
• The biggest oldest trees are left uncut, giving the forest majesty. Old trees are also important habitats for many forest plants and animals.
• Innofor recommends voluntary protection of biologically exceptional sites, and helps owners look for compensation schemes.
